Employee Recognition 101

Employee Appreciation Day was celebrated on Friday March 5 this year. Although this was over a week ago, I firmly believe that any time is a good time to show appreciation to staff. You do not need a special day to acknowledge the contributions of your team, but it is nice to get a reminder to do so. I can’t tell you the number of times people have told me that they don’t feel appreciated at work. They say they feel tired, run down, and as if the work they do is going unnoticed or doesn’t make sense. Many times people may just need some time away from the office to recharge. Other times, the problem more than likely is because there is a lack of employee recognition where they work.
